The Red Door Project
Although the Red Door Project is a ministry of Central Texas Metropolitan Community Church, we can't do it alone. We need your helping hands to make it a success. The Project consists of the Red Door Pantry and the Red Door Support Groups. The Pantry is the only one in McLennan County dedicated solely to the needs of the HIV population. The Support groups are currently the only HIV support groups available within McLennan County.
The Pantry provides non-perishable food and hygiene items for the clients. But it only exists because of the generosity of the community-at-large. To make your online donation (large or small), go to our "Online Shopping" page. Your generosity makes a difference!
The Red Door Pantry
People living with HIV have found the increasing cost of utilities and transportation competing with the cost for the medications necessary for survival. Our goal is to ease the financial burden by providing food assistance.
The Pantry is available for anyone who can show any evidence of HIV status. Call 752-5331 for more information.
We are always collecting donations and soliciting funds to equip the pantry with items. If you would like to help out, we encourage you to pick up a few extra items next time you are at the grocery and drop them by the church. We’re easy to find: we’re at the corner of 16th St. and Clay Ave. Enter through the red door at 16th St.
The Red Door Support Groups
In addition to the Red Door Pantry, we provide space for two peer support groups: a support group for persons living with HIV, and a support group for the friends, families, partners, and caregivers of persons living with HIV. Although the groups have facilitators, the primary support comes from the sharing of stories between group members. We meet on the third Thursday of each month at 7PM for dinner, and then break into the individual peer groups.
Additionally, we host a support group for HIV+ women on the first Saturday of each month at 11AM. Following the meeting, a sandwich lunch is provided.
